IMPORT-EXPORT EXPO - AUTUMN 2008
Guangzhou, 24-27 September 2008

CONCLUDED WITH SUCCESS, ANOTHER BRILLIANT EVENT TO COME

The 29th Guangzhou International Beauty & Cosmetic Import-Export Expo - Autumn 2008 concluded with great success on 27 September 2008. A total of 1,973 companies and brands from 11 countries and regions exhibited in the show, while a total of 203,770 visitor entries were recorded, of which 92% were from China.

The decline of the global economic climate had no impact whatsoever on the level of participation, which testifies to the show''''s stature as the most established and important beauty industry trade fair in China, and is also indicative of the dynamism and massive latent potential that resides in China''''s domestic beauty market.

Gathering Professionals
Featuring the biggest line-up of international brands amongst beauty exhibitions in Mainland China, clear product sectorisation layout, captivating on-stage performances and shows and an intensive educational programme, the 29th edition of this show was even more focused on attracting a large, professional and qualified audience. Visitors to the show comprise Manufacturers (26%), Distributors and Wholesalers (39%) and professionals from Beauty & Hair Salons (33%).

New Exhibition Venue Impresses Participants

The design concept characterizing the entire Pazhou Complex and its purpose-built exhibition halls brought a new allure to the whole event, held at this venue for the first time, offering greater space and opportunity for expression and booth decoration, and raising the standard of presentation and the image of the exhibits.

The clear product sectorisation by hall enabled every major beauty sector to be represented in the best business environment possible:
Level 2
Hall 9.2: Perfumery & Cosmetics; Personal Care Products; Bath Accessories and Toiletries; Chain Stores & Franchising Business; Traditional Chinese Medicine
Hall 10.2: Packaging & Machinery; Raw Materials; Private Label & OEM
Hall 11.2: Hair Products, Equipment and Salon Furnishings; Beauty & Hair Training Institutes

Hall 10.3: International Brands, International & Group Pavilions; Professional Beauty Salon and Well-being Products, Tools and Equipment

The wide array of exhibits provided the variety and scope that visitors look for, and created an unsurpassed business environment for the beauty trade in China.

What the buyers say?

Cosmetology of Skin Association of Macau - Mr Chan Cheng Hoi, President
"The Pazhou complex is very grand, and plays a crucial role in facilitating domestic as well as international exchange, offering up many opportunities for the beauty industry."
Beijing Lengshi Biology Technology Co., Ltd - Ms Wang Zitao, General Manager (Beijing)
"Visiting the fair this year, I was impressed by the magnificent Pazhou Complex, and the exhibition which was well organized and of a high standard. We are planning to exhibit in the next edition."

What the exhibitors say?

Bioline Srl -Mr Tommaso Corradini
"The move to this new venue is a big step forward from the previous editions held at the old Fairground. It is also demonstrative of how the China cosmetics market is growing and getting more sophisticated, paying more attention to cosmetics from overseas and at the same time giving more space for European brands to develop."
Farmen I.C.D. SpA -Mr Gianni Manzetti
"It is a very big fair, in a new modern venue, very well organized. I think it is a very important fair for the Chinese market, maybe in the future also at the international level."

Growing International Perspective

Buyers expressed great interest in Hall 10.3, which was designated a dedicated area to gather overseas brands, which in the 29th edition came from Australia, France, Germany, Israel, Korea, Japan, Italy, Spain, the UK and the US. Country and group pavilions from Australia, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan also participated, furthering the international perspective of the event. Under the spotlight in Hall 10.3 was the inaugural Italian Beauty Lounge supported by the Italian Trade Commission.
Cooperation with COSMOPROF has accelerated the internationalization of the event. The immense interest paid to the international brands is evident that the China market is now more mature, and consumers are focusing more and more on quality rather than simple function.

Hair Show Arouses Hairstylists' Passion

Label.m's 2008 Glittery Autumn, TONI&GUY's Northern China artistic team, O.B.A and Mizi Magic Training's 2009 International Trends, Sea Vennus and Frank Taylor, Zhang Jinghui and other high profile performers dazzled hairstylists!
The series of hair shows were enthusiastically received and the audience averaged at least 600 per show, most of them hairstylists looking to discover new techniques and trends. In view of the popularity, the organiser will strengthen the hair programme in future events.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

The Traditional Chinese Medicine pavilion was set up to promote the applications of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the cosmetics industry. This is the only show in China where TCM products for beauty and health purposes are given special prominence. TCM has a long history of contribution to physical wellbeing and most Chinese people believe it has miraculous properties for beauty, too! It is thus an area of growing interest in the beauty business. The booths in this pavilion were decorated in traditional Chinese style with actors dressed in ancient Chinese costumes, exhibitors regarded this as a great environment to promote their brands.
